Converting VHS to DVD?

Tuesday, December 15th, 2009

I have tons of home videos that I am hoping to convert to DVDs for my family. I don’t have any special equipment–any recommendations on the best way to begin? What should I purchase? Or, if it is way too difficult or expensive to do on my own, is there a company or website that can do this for me?

Thanks!

Convert VHS to DVD to edit on computer?

Saturday, December 12th, 2009

I have a VHS tape with 2 versions of my wedding on it. I would like to be able to have this video converted to a format that I could edit on my computer (most likely using Windows Movie Maker) and later burn to a DVD (a combination of both videos…). What is the best way to do this? I could possibly get ahold of both of the originals (one is a Hi8 and the other a VHS-C) but for now all I have is a regular VHS tape with both of them on it. Any suggestions?

Should I buy a DVD recorder or Vhs/DVD combo?

Friday, December 11th, 2009

Hello all, I’m perplexed what to do. I have an analog TV (no cable/satellite). I need a machine to record TV programs. Should I get a DVD recorder/player?
A combo DVD/VHS (I still have VHS tapes, but I’m converting over to DVD)
or separate DVD player/ separate VHS?

How do you copy a VHS tape (not copyrighted) onto a DVD?

Monday, December 7th, 2009

Using a VCR recorder and a DVD recorder? How do you hook the two up together? Do you need a TV to make it work or just the two recorders, the VHS tape and the DVD it will be recorded to?
Can you recommend inexpensive DVD recorders that would work for this function. I will have to take the equipment to the tape, as it cannot leave the office where it is.
