I have an OLD Mitsubishi tv - circa late ’80s/early ’90s. I just got a Toshiba DR400 dvd recorder. I’m using a Scientific Atlanta iO optimum/cablevision cable box. I can’t get the picture from the dvd player to show up on my tv - no matter what configuration of cables I use. Are these components just not compatible??

i love my mac but she’s in the shop. I ran out and bought a toshiba to get me by. how do I burn a regular talent show dvd. do I compress and use whats installed with this machine. in mac i would use mac the ripper and then toast. but i’m at a loss with this.

I am usually able to do this but my mom gave me her tv without the remote ( she couldn’t find it). I have a 32 inch RCA tv and Direct TV. The direct tv is connected to the back of the tv with the yellow, red, and white cable cords. I just bought a new dvd player for the tv and I plugged it in and put the yellow, white, and red directly into the tv. It didn’t work, so I connceted it to the cable box. I am not able to turn the tv to video mode because I don’t have the remote (my mom said she found it). I tried through the menu buttons to find a video command, there is none. I hooked up other dvds to my other tv without a problem. One went directly into the front of the tv and my other tv had the video button on the tv. Any help would be great….my kids are missing there favorite movies.

The DVD player that I just bought ONLY outputs video data in the 1080p format and it can ONLY be connected via HDMI.

I thought this player would work fine with my TV set that I bought last year until I read some fine print in the user guide to discover that it is only 720p (even though the display at the store said it could display UP to 1080p).

What I really need to know is will I be able to see any picture whatsoever if I hook up this DVD player to the TV that I already have because of the difference in resolutions?

it won’t allow me to install any games at all. (most of my games worked on my XP machine, this is an vista OS)
my old system was XP my new system is a laptop with vista. laptop wont read the disk.

RIGHT , SO I BOUGHT A 2DISK DVD ONLINE (WHITEBOYZ IN THE HOOD) ‘STANDUP COMEDY’ / I TRUST THAT THE DVD IS IN PERFECT WORKING ORDER , HOWEVER WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO PLAY THE DISK ON MY HOME DVD PLAYER IN ENGLAND , IT SAID (UNABLE TO PLAY FOR REGIONAL RESTRICTION RULES) / I WAS OBVIOUSLY VERY DISSAPOINTTED AND THOUGHT IT WAS WORTH TRYING IT ON A PORTABLE DVD PLAYER THAT I HAVE , SO I TRIED IT AND IT SUPRISINGLY WORKED / I WAS THEN SATISFIED BUT NOT COMPLETLEY AS I WISH TO FULLFILL THE ATMOSPHERE WITH BIG GOOD QUALITY SCREENING ON A TV , IS THERE ANYTHING I CAN DO THAT CAN ACTIVATE THE DVD PLAYER TO PLAY THE DISK ? My computer is new so it has all the bells and whistles, but i have completely forgotten how to record the minidisc to my computer. i wanted to put the movie i recorded onto youtube. i have Roxio. would i use that to get the contents of the disc into my hardrive.??? Please help. (not good at computers)
