I have a 2-3 year old Dell with XP and duel CD drives only. I’d like to be able to burn DVDs. Do I need two new drives? Both DVD-Rs? What’s the difference between a DVD-R and a DVD-RW? What else do I need after the new drives?

I am trying to install a HP printer via wireless onto my laptop, which is a Toshiba running Vista home premium. I put the HP disc in the DVD RW drive, program will not start. I then click on bottom left,windows start. I then click Computer and the only item showing is my C drive. There’s no DVD RW Drive ( D:, E:) NOTHING. Please if any ideas would be very appreciated!

i downloaded a movie, it is in .FLV format. never heard of it before.. anyways i’m trying to burn it to a dvd (i have a dvd rw drive) using windows media but it won’t read the file extension. should i download another program, or should i download something to change the file format to make it work? thanks!!

can i burn a dual layer DVD …DVD rom cost me £40.00 …its can burn DVD -/+ RW’s any but i never done DUal layer can i do it?

I have a Toshiba M300 laptop which has a dvd/CD-RW drive that has stopped working all of a sudden. It will not reconise DVDs. It will read and Play CD rom and write to CDs but when a DVD is placed into the drive it isn’t reconised. The drive trys to start up but fails as if nothing is in the drive. No error messages are displayed except when i try to browse the drive ” Please insert a disc into drive D:”.
The driver is the most up to date, Device manager says that it is working properly, The region is correct for the DVDs that i am inserting.

Please help………….. ;o)

I have a VHS DvD Combo already
but i burn my casettes to a dvd+rw
and it doesnt work

I ran out of CD’s recently and I have some of my DVD RW’s I use to distribute my YouTube videos. Can I take an empty DVD RW and use it as a CD?

This just doesent make any sense, I mean what if you travel a LOT and you get a LOT of dvds from different countries. you should be able to change it an infinite number of times right?

iv used my rw before but not for a while,while trying to make room on my hard drive.
attempting to back up files on dvd my rw keeps spitting out discs saying illegal disc error.
any ideas ,it worked before .
do you think nero could be the cause?

it won’t allow me to install any games at all. (most of my games worked on my XP machine, this is an vista OS)
my old system was XP my new system is a laptop with vista. laptop wont read the disk.
