I want to buy a DVD- player, should I go for Philips? I find a deal for Philips DVP5960.. It is now $50 instead of $80.

I have a Toshiba Sattelite laptop that has a dvd burner.
My televisions are both toshiba as well, one of which that has a built in dvd player.
My other dvd player is a MAGNAVOX.

I would like to know if i have to convert my video files to a certain type, and if my dvds have to be a special type as well. The ones i have right now are DVD-R (memorex)

Please include any other important info i may need, and what program i should use, (windows dvd maker????) i can get any other kind, even if it costs money, i just need to know what program, and what i have to do before i begin to burn.

i downloaded a movie, it is in .FLV format. never heard of it before.. anyways i’m trying to burn it to a dvd (i have a dvd rw drive) using windows media but it won’t read the file extension. should i download another program, or should i download something to change the file format to make it work? thanks!!

I downloaded a tv series on the computer i was just wondering steps on how to actually burn it onto a blank dvd so that i may watch it on my dvd player thank you verrrry much

i have a brand new samsung series 6 40 inch but cannot seem to connect my wii player/ dvd player to the tv. the wires for the nintendo wii have been plugged into the side of the tv but i am getting no signal.

I used iDVD to burn an AVI file onto DVD, played well, but around 6-10 mins of show, sound disappeared. Tried 2 different movies, same problem. AVI file plays perfectly on QT. I have A52Codec installed. Any idea?
Also tried saving into img before burning. Mount img to play and same problem as well - so not DVD player problem.
thanks for the recommendations, but I’m really hoping to solve this using iDVD and not have to buy another application.
Somewhat found a solution … for those having similar issue, try DivX Doctor II. It’s a free application which converts AVI to QT fairly quickly. Burning QT to DVD using iDvD works perfectly.

I have a lot of vhs tapes that I would like to transfer to dvd. I would appreciate help from anyone with experience with them. I am looking for something easy to use, good quality recording and playback but reasonable cost.
Norm, thanks for the info. I have a dvd/vhs player combo. The dvd part has stopped working so I need to replace at least that. Room is a factor so I figured one unit that did both was the best option. Any experience with a combo recorder. I use a cable box also so everything has to fit in the space I have in my storage area.
