I have 2 CD rom drive on my computer E:\ and D:\. BOTH ARE ONLY CD. I try to copy a .vob video file or an mpeg or something to a CD-RW with my CD non DVD drive. My DVD player cant read it!? Do I need a DVD RW and a DVD computer drive!? Cause i got both I just want to know if you need em! Thanks alot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The old cd drive just died a couple weeks ago, so it will be coming out as soon as I can get a replacement. It’s kind of an old 2400 too (got it in ‘02 I think) if that makes any difference, which it did when I upgraded the video card. Thanks for any help!

I have an older laptop that was given to me…I seem to be having problems with the CD-Rom connection….

The drive shows up in windows just fine however when a CD is inserted it spins up…then stops and spins up again…this goes on and on. I have gotten the drive to read and burn CD’s just fine but it’s not consistent …I have been playing around with the connection, used a can of air to blow out the connection and been trying different angles but i can’t seem to find a solution.

it’s a Compaq Evo 1000v laptop
Windows XP
Drive is a Toshiba SD-R2102
8X Record CD-R, 8X Rewrite CD-RW, 8X DVD Read, 24X CD Read

Any help would be appreciated…

i recently had to do a complete system restore (restore to out-of-the-box state), and now my cd drive isnt recognized at all. my cd drive wasnt the problem in the beginning, so i dont know what happened. i dont know what its named, so i cant manually download the driver.
i have a toshiba satellite L300 series.

I bought a System Recovery DVD before realizing that the computer it was for only has a CD drive. How do I transfer the DVD onto a CD? Thanks

I’m using Roxio Creator 8 Suite and when I pop in a DVD+R disc, it won’t read the disc. The CD-Rom works fine because music CD’s and DVD’s play perfectly fine.

It’s a Sony Vaio which is currently a bit over two years old. I tried uninstalling the driver and re-installed it. The strange thing is that it can read DVDs but not CDs. The drive usually doesn’t work and then might work once in a while. Also, please answer only if you know what you’re talking about and don’t just say “replace it” or “get a new one” because that really doesn’t help. I’m thinking about it but it’s kind of what I’m hoping should be a last resort.
